Yes, you can help me by just staying in that picture! Nice work Michael! You are very brave indeed. I do hate to say this, but the female black widow is an interesting subject. Sleek, Graceful and Beautiful.....definitely from a distance though.

Michael Eingle replied:

Yes for sure Lisa! Ha! I'm not a lover of the bug world but every now and then I have try to get up close and personal. Thanks very much!

What a capture and great tones! Great detail and contrast. I did have one jump on me while I was taking its picture. It was unexpected but now I know- stand back! Love them. L/F

Michael Eingle replied:

Thanks so much Judy! Yes I was wondering about it jumping! If it did I might have jumped right over the second story railing I was on...ha!

Wow, awesome macro, Michael! Love these beneficial guys. Had a good-sized one visit the garden recently, was light beige in color. I absolutely love the beautiful green in your magnificent capture. The clarity and DOF are outstanding. Excellent work! F/L

Michael Eingle replied:

Thanks so much for the great comment Brian! I was very nervous taking this image because I am not a fan of bugs at all and if this thing jumped on me I would have had a heart attach...ha!

Thank you so much Ming! Sounds like you have a lot of visitors to photograph or paint!

Michael, We both are nature lovers. Love this visitor! I cannot find mantis in North America. Most of the visitors in my backyard are usually raccoons, hummingbirds, squirrels, rodents, butterflies, skunks, and various bees. Cheers, Ming
